Internship Training and Fitness Program for DODASS

(Arts and Science College- Erode)



 AIM


Aim of this Internship training is to gain practical knowledge about the way how the training is conducted in the recruitment stage of an officer/ Agniveer. Unless, the students understand by undergoing somewhat similar training, they will not be able to appreciate the reality of Security personnel and their life.

DURATION


This internship training will commence on 02 September and end on 30 September 2024. The training will be conducted by the faculty and volunteers of DODASS.

CERTIFICATION


The candidates will be continuously assessed and in the end they will be provided with a grade and certificate as proof of having undergone the Internship. The grading will be based on their Performance during the entire training period

EXPECTATION


At the end of 4 weeks training we expect to see:-
• (a) Improvement in Physical fitness;
• (b) Push people a bit further than they would push themselves to achieve goals;
• (c) Get the group working together; and
• (d) Get them to gain some practical knowledge and gain confidence to lead

COST OF TRAINING


The internship is a paid internship training, the cost of entire 4 weeks training would be Rs.15,000,/ per individual (this includes the visit and Training only, food and accommodation for the candidates will be arranged by the College and subsidised rates)

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM IN NUT-SHELL


1. Physical Fitness
2. Understanding the way how defence personal work?
3. How a sub unit functions and various requirements of documentation
4. Planning and Organising small events
5. Meeting and Liaison with civil and military Authorities
6. Learning via Visits to various
7. Gaining self-confidence and improve both written and verbal presentation skills


PHYSICAL FITNESS

Basic:-
(a) Personal Fitness: The level of personal fitness required to afford protection from injury, reduce the risk of hypokinetic disease (Disease resulting from inactivity), Psychological stress, enhance the quality of life and reduces the risk of dying prematurely.

Vocation Fitness:- The level of physical fitness required to perform a specific job safely and effectively under normal operating conditions.

Note: for imparting physical training the Instructor to member ratio would be 1: 30. It would be better to employ a person with some military background, better still would be a trainer form Army Physical Training Corps.
Nevertheless, a Civilian with Civilian qualifications can also be employed

(b) This training will be carried out 5 days a week, which will include exercise like warming up, Press-up, Push ups, squats, high intensity aerobic exercises like Skipping climbing, obstacle course. Followed by cooling exercises

Conditions: Before putting the trainees under severe stress and strain, we should obtain a certificate duly filled and signed by the individual. This is for safety on both sides. (Trainee and Trainers and Management)
A Questionnaire is attached as appendix A to this Instructions:- Everyone who is participating must fill it up BP, Check, TT injection is must

DRILL


Basic Drill movements have to be taught to all individuals so that they develop good listening skill, and improve co-ordinated moves.It gives an opportunity to improve the word of command and his personal bearing becomes good.

DOCUMENTATION


All activities have to be meticulously documented, both via written document as well as Digital documents.
Photo / Video should be taken to keep the record permanent

CONFIDENCE BUILDING EXERCISES


A number of Military and Civil authorities are to be contacted on required basis as a part of this internship. This will provide them with opportunity to get rid of shyness/ inhibition. The candidates will feel confident on achieving the assigned Target

PROMOTIONS & SHOULDERING RESPONSIBILITY


The candidates are assigned various tasks and are made in charge. This gives them a sense of gain full job and thereby they gain practical knowledge to solve the problems and find suitable solutions. Overall confidence level will be increased which is a must for career in Uniform

VISITS


Candidates will be encouraged to plan and organise visits, put up proposals and budgeting will be learned via practical tasking Visit to various defence academy, installations will be centrally arranged, and transport for the same will be arranged by the College. All measure to cost cutting will be taken so that the expenditure falls within the allocated budget

CAMPS


Camping in unfamiliar grounds will give them a sense of adventure and build team sprit by doing various team jobs and games

BOOK REVIEW


An educated individual is expected to possess a basic minimum Knowledge in various subjects. This can only be developed by reading books. Sharing the acquired knowledge will further enhance the students’ capacity to discuss and teach others

TESTS (Physical and Mental)

The periodical tests will permit the trainers to know the level of receptivity of the candidate as to what has been taught and what has been learned

GROUP ACTIVITY

These activity which will be in the form of Presentation, making of sand model, discussion on various topics will lead to better coordination and team building among the students/ Participants

WARNING

All students are to strictly follow the rules and regulations as per requirement. They are expected to maintain high sense of Discipline. The training will be physically and mentally demanding. Students are expected to be in possession of proper uniform and dress as per the requirement

CLOTHING

Necessary clothing items and items required for outdoor camp has to be taken by the candidates. (It should be light yet no essential is to be forgotten)

CELLPHONE

Students can bring their own cell phone and use it judicially. However, all the cell phones will be deposited with the faculty from 0700 to 1500 hours

MEDICAL

In case of any medical emergency, the Camp commandant must be informed. All students will have to take Compulsory Accident insurance Policy

CONCULSION 


It is envisaged that by the end of this internship program the student would have gained practical knowledge, sense of team work and confidence in one self. Will feel he/she is industry ready or otherwise.

• Patrolling and Reconnaissance: Training on how to conduct patrolling operations, gather intelligence, and perform reconnaissance missions.

• Field Craft and Battle Drills: Techniques and strategies for camouflage, concealment, and survival in combat scenarios.

2. Weapon Training

• Small Arms Training: Handling and firing of small arms like rifles, pistols, and light machine guns.

• Marksmanship: Training in shooting accuracy and techniques, including range firing practice.

• Maintenance of Weapons: Practical sessions on cleaning, maintaining, and assembling/disassembling weapons.

3. Physical Training

• Physical Fitness Drills: Regular physical exercises to build stamina, strength, and e

• Self-Defense Techniques: Martial arts and hand-to-hand combat training.

4. Tactical Training

• Mock War Exercises: Simulated combat exercises involving tactical maneuvers, command, and control.

• Counter-Insurgency Operations: Training on how to handle insurgency and guerrilla warfare situations.

• Military Strategy Games: Using computer simulations or board games to understand military strategies and decision-making.

5. Leadership and Management Training
• Command and Leadership Exercises: Practical exercises on leading troops, decision-making under pressure, and managing resources.

• Crisis Management: Training in handling emergencies, including natural disasters, conflicts, and other crises.

• Military Communication: Practical sessions on using communication equipment and protocols in military operations.

6. First Aid and Emergency Response
• Battlefield First Aid: Training on how to provide first aid in combat situations, including handling gunshot wounds, fractures, and other injuries.

• Emergency Evacuation Drills: Practicals on how to evacuate casualties from the battlefield or disaster zones.

• CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) Defense: Basic training on handling and responding to CBRN threats.

7. Field Visits and Study Tours

• Visits to Military Establishments: Tours to army bases, air force stations, naval ships, and defense production facilities to understand military operations.

• Defense Research Institutions: Visits to organizations like DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization) to learn about defense technologies and research.

• Historical Battlefields and War Memorials: Field trips to significant historical sites related to military history.

8. Research and Presentation
• Research Projects: Students are often required to conduct research on military topics and present their findings.

• War Games Analysis: Analysis and discussion of historical battles and war strategies.

• Seminars and Workshops: Participation in seminars, workshops, and conferences related to defense studies and security issues.

These practical classes are designed to provide students with hands-on experience in military tactics, leadership, and the operational aspects of defense studies. The exact nature of these practicals may vary depending on the institution and the specific curriculum of the BA Defence Studies program.
